NEWS | OPINION | ARTS & CULTURE | FEATURES | MULTIMEDIA
Guess what? Summer's...almost...over...
But when summer's over school's back in session which means THE GATEWAY IS BACK IN SESSION! Cheers, claps, high-fives all around.Let's get the jump on things with a steaming hot Arts + Culture pitch email. By now, y'all get it: read the ideas below, let them mentally marinate, let me know if you want to sink your teeth into them by which I mean take these germs of ideas and turn them into beautiful fully-grown articles, or pitch me your own deepest-held wishes for articles that damnit, someone should write but damnit, no one has. It's lunchtime and I'm really hungry.
Pitch me at all hours of the day and/or night via email at [email protected].Also! Some extra announcements:
If you have ever wanted to be on the radio, we're now running a biweekly Arts + Culture segment on our reformatted Gateway Presents show, which airs every second Friday on 88.5 FM CJSR (campus radio) and now consists of about 10 minutes each of arts, news, and opinion content. So far it's been me setting up interviews and generating ideas for the arts part of the show, but if you have an idea for a segment that could be done in a great voice-y way in about 8 or 9 minutes, hit! me! up! You can review a movie, talk with a guest about a festival or art exhibition or play, or have a back-and-forth with a buddy about a restaurant. The floor could be yours if you want it.
I'm looking for writers who want to be in the magazine writing my front-of-book (FOB) features. I have two: 1) Beyond the Bachelor, which in about 200 words profiles a cool U of A alumnus who's doing cool work; and 2) Starter Pack/Five Things For..., which gives you the freedom to go hog-wild for 350-400 words and pick five epic non-mainstream things that fit with the theme I give you for the month. I have September and October done, but November's theme is "Do You Remember? The Greyway," so if you think that piques your interest or you have ideas for alumni who you think would fit the bill, let me know and I'll give you more details.
Okay, phew. That was a lot. On to the pitches.

M-Kaps's upcoming album Pragmatic
Canadian hip-hop artist M-Kaps uses his unique lyrical style and smooth vocals to explore a classic fascination: romance.
