Hello shutterbugs! It's time for photo pitches!See the pitches below. As always, let me know if you're interested in or would like to know more about any of the pitches!
Prairie accents- Photos of the researcher Bryce Wittrock, who just published a study on Canadian Prairie dialects.Gut Bacteria- Photos of the researcher Karim Fouad, who found a promising link between gut health and anxiety-like behaviourRe:Plenish- Photos of the zero-waste store Re:Plenish
Millenials and gen z are more anxious- Photo that reflects anxiety Latitude 53- Photos of the 'even the birds are walking' exhibit at Latitude 53McMullen Gallery Exhibit- Photos of the McMullen gallery exhibit in the UofA hospital
Burlap sack: valentines day- Photo that represents Valentine's day, but in a negative/sad way
Magazine StuffTrapped in an elevator- Take photos for a creative writing piece about being trapped in an elevator. This would include photos of the buttons, doors, walls, etc.
DOGS!- There will be a photostory piece in the April magazine about the dogs that visit our campus libraries! They visit:Feb 11th: John W. Scott Library, 12:00pmFeb 13th: Rutherford Library, 10:00amFeb 27th: Cameron Library, 2:00pmWe can have multiple contributors for this piece for anyone who wants to help take photos of dogs!
General things:
Sports: We have media passes for UofA sporting events if you are interested in shooting any games and making some photo stories
Photo stories: If you ever have ideas for your own photo stories (e.g. concerts, events, plays, other photo series that have a theme), feel free to pitch them to me!
Announcements!!
Next week we will be holding a hiring information session where the staff will talk about our roles at the Gateway for anyone who may be interested in applying for a position here! I won't be photo editor forever so if being the Photo Editor for the 2020-2021 year sounds appealing to you, definitely email me to learn more about my role and keep your eyes out for the announcement of this meeting (will likely be next Thursday afternoon).
