Happy October!
Welcome to the end of fall! Welcome to midterm season! I hope you all are surviving and thriving and will continue to do so as the weeks progress. I have no new updates other than NO ONE VOTED ON GOING TO DEWEY'S OR RATT FOR OUR LAST MEETING! :(((((((((((( I'm hoping that we can all go to either RATT or Dewey's next meeting to change things up and have a more casual, fun time! Please vote in this Doodle poll as to which of them you'd like to go to! Other than that, here are some pitches for y'all. Same deadlines as always, and let me know if you'd like to take a pitch! Have a great Thanksgiving weekend!

HateFreeYeg launched to push back against swastika painting, far-right rallies
Basically,
is an anti-hate group raising awareness in Edmonton around hate in the community, specifically in response to far-right rallies and some swastika graffiti that has appeared in Edmonton recently. They're planning to also work with businesses to create "hate-free spaces," which would be designated with a sticker on the front of an establishment that's committed to eliminating hate from their space.
What do you think of the campaign?

Edmonton councillor wants free transit for everyone
DAMN!
sounds pretty cool. Though some have argued that ETS just kind of sucks and needs to step up its game in the bus and train world in order to be deemed worthy of such an increase in use. But isn't free garbage that gets you places better than no garbage at all? What do you think?

University of Manchester Students' Union bans clapping
They wish to replace it with the British Sign Langauge equivalent, which some have remarked looks a lot like jazz hands, as a way to
with sensory issues better participate in events and in democratic processes in their SU. Is this an effective form of breaking barriers to participation?

Employers call for 'youth differential' as Alberta's minimum wage hits $15 an hour
Some employers say that they don't want to
as much because they don't have the same work skill as adults in a lot of cases. But wouldn't they be doing the same kind of work as adults if they had identical positions? Is this just a cop-out to pay youth less?

Amazon to Raise Its Minimum U.S. Wage to $15 an Hour
After what seems like endless brutal evidence of Amazon warehouse workers being underpaid and working in cramped, terrible working conditions, Amazon has mandated that its official US minimum wage will be
. While they're being praised for making the move and being "leaders" in what businesses should be doing for their workers, does giving a higher wage really fix the terrible working conditions, or their hours?
