Supreme Court rules feds do not have to consult Indigenous groups when making laws
Many Indigenous groups are upset by this
, as they say it will mean the government won't have to consult Indigenous peoples when making decisions related to treaty rights and land claims and such.
The court said that while it does mean that the government doesn't necessarily have to consult Indigenous groups everytime a law is being made, it doesn't mean that they won't be under the obligation to treat Indigenous voices with respect.
