Hey everyone, Taylor here!I hope everyone was able to have a nice relaxing weekend! For those of you with final exams coming up, good luck. Make sure you take some time to do some self care in these stressful times!A couple of announcements:

  • I would like to take a moment to thank all of you who applied for the Deputy Editor position for the Spring and Summer terms! After some thought, we have decided to welcome back last year's Deputy Editor, Katie! You'll be seeing more of her coming up in the next few weeks as she settles back into her role.

  • It's Pride Month! We are hoping to get some LGBTQIA2S+ content for Gateway this month! If you have any topics near and dear to you, reach out and we can see what we can do!

U of A is set to give out 14 honorary degrees this summer. What's your take on this? Do honorary degrees help add to the prestige and future of the university, or is it simply a publicity stunt?This could be a great point/counterpoint!

Rachel Notley, leader of the NDP, has promised to

 for students and others if re-elected next year. This could go a long way to help university students during the summer months to supplement their income. How do you think that Notley's promise will affect university students? How do you think this will affect next year's election? What are the other parties promising for university students?

Gender segregation in STEMDespite having 44% of women undergraduates in STEM-related programs, recent studies suggest that there is still gender segregation among STEM programs. What's your take on this? How does U of A balance this? What does it look like for non-binary students or genderqueer students?

In January 2023, B.C. is set to decriminalize small amounts of opioids, cocaine, and other drugs. Should Alberta be thinking about setting up a similar act? What are the pros and cons of this act? 

Is farming nearing its end in Alberta?Stats Canada released a recent study that shows the numbers of farms in Alberta decreasing. In the last 20 years, the number of Albertan farms have decreased by 19,000. What does this mean for the future of Albertan farming?
