Two Alberta NDP MLAs announce they won't seek re-election
The
are Sandra Jansen from Calgary-North West, and Estefania Cortes-Vargas from Strathcona-Sherwood Park. Jansen is the current Infrastructure Minister for the NDP government and crossed the floor from the Conservatives to the NDP in 2016. Cortes-Vargas is the current government caucus whip, the youngest ever in Albertan history.
What does this mean for the NDP in the coming election, and for women in Alberta politics?

Ontario government cuts tuition fees by 10%, eliminates free tuition for low-income students
The
also come with the implementation of the Student Choice Initiative, a policy that will allow students to decide what student fees they wish to pay, with the exception of certain mandatory categories of services.
The massive tuition cut lacks any compensation through mechanisms like backfill funding, meaning universities will have to find a way to make up this loss of funding on their own.

Geer Week, the Engineering Student Society's engineering competition/celebration, moved their battle of the bands competition
from The Ranch due to the controversy surrounding the death of a young man back in November which resulted from him being kicked out of The Ranch.
