Hey y'all!We're in the final stretch of exams, folks! I don't know about you, but I'm counting down the days until I can relax and truly celebrate the holidays, instead of reading my (not well-written) term papers. With that, here are this week's pitches!Just let us know which one you'd like and what your take on it will be. Many climate-conscious Edmontonians were disappointed to see sustainability projects underfunded, and even more frustrated when councillors suggested shelving the projects to avoid major tax increases. City Manager Andre Corbould said more Edmontonians needed to express interest in climate activism before the projects got backed by the city.   

City council recently motioned to amend the four-year capital budget to include initiatives on bike lane infrastructure. The proposed bike lane network, worth $100M, aims to get Edmontonians to use safe and green transportation around the city. Many students are wondering if these bike lanes will connect the University to other parts of the city in ways that are accessible for students who enjoy biking. Do you think that this plan will benefit overall transportation in the city? Or do you think that this new budget is too high for the proposed plans?

The new budget released by the City of Edmonton included proposed spending that would increase residents' taxes by 1.03 per cent over the next four years. These numbers are subject to change as deliberations continue. Talk about how this increase can impact Edmontonians, especially during record-high inflation.

Initially, the bridge was set to open by the end of 2022, but has been delayed because of issues with assembly and fabrication. This is another setback in a project concerning more sustainable transit options, like the Valley Line LRT.  

The faculty of Arts are hosting ‘Brain Break’ sessions for students during finals week, which includes free snacks and arts swag!  Write a marble pedestal describing how events like this help students succeed and provide well-needed breaks during the busiest time of the semester.
