No FIFA for EdmontonEdmonton soccer fans were sad to discover that we won’t be hosting any of the games in the 2026 World Cup, even though we hosted two of the qualifying matches. Politicians and Albertans across the political spectrum are disappointed, with many laying blame at Jason Kenney’s door. How will this impact the soccer community in Edmonton, especially since we’re avid supporters? Is this decision really a blessing in disguise, considering the cost of hosting the World Cup?

As of June 14, Alberta has lifted almost all of the COVID-19 restrictions, including masking on public transport and mandatory vaccinations. However, variants continue to spread through the community, but vaccinations have stalled, with only 38 per cent of Albertans having received their third dose. Write about the consequences of this, especially as we think about returning to campus in the fall.

Isolation no longer mandatory for COVID-19 U of A removes mandatory isolation for students who test positive for COVID-19. Instead, the university recommends isolating, but is not enforcing it. What will this mean for the upcoming terms? How will this affect students?
