Last summer, city council launched a pilot project allowing Edmontonians to drink alcohol in select parks. Council voted 3-2 to make the project permanent, as it was seen as a success. Some councillors expressed concerns for safety and security, however. Will this project increase community involvement and use of parks in Edmonton? Or, does it pose a threat to the neighbouring communities and their safety?

Write an article about how this change will help Edmonton improve current waste management systems, and reduce landfill emissions across the city.

On March 24, the Board of Governors will vote on the proposed 5.5 per cent tuition increases for domestic students. In response, members of the community are holding a protest outside council chambers on voting day. Will this protest be enough to send a message to the BoG? Or, is it too little too late?

The Harcourt House in Oliver provides affordable studio and gallery space for Edmonton artists, but that might change if they can’t raise $3.5 million to buy the two buildings they currently occupy. Talk about the impact losing spaces like this has on Edmonton's art scene, and what needs to change to support them.
