Edmonton City Councillor being investigated over Twitter behaviour Michael Janz, councillor for ward papastew, is being investigated over an official complaint saying he broke the city’s code of conduct policy. Allegedly, Janz retweeted a tweet calling a police officer a “pig”, which some found discriminatory. What questions does this raise surrounding freedom of speech or expression on social media, especially for politicians?

Many international students have called out the unfair criteria necessary to win some awards at the university, one of which can be Canadian citizenship. While the university commented that this isn’t a usual criteria for most awards, international students are still upset they’d be excluded at all. Do you think there are some awards international students should be exempt from? Or do you think that residency shouldn’t even be considered?
