Hey y'all!Halloween is fast-approaching, so I hope y'all have your costumes ready! Quick reminder that this Wednesday at 6:45, the Gateway is screening the movie Get Out at Metro Cinema! It's free for students, so make sure you bring your onecard!As well, we're hosting a mini-social on Halloween! We're watching Coraline and eating tons of candy, so make sure you come! Macleans ranks the U of A in the top 5 universities in Canada for medical programsIn a ranking for the best medical doctoral universities in Canada, Macleans magazine placed the U of A in the top 5. The U of A's nursing program ranked in third, with our education program also placing quite high. In the past year, the U of A has continued ranking higher and higher, despite immense budget cuts. While this high ranking is a good sign for prospective students coming into these programs, it's making students in other disciplines worried they'll grow more underfunded as highly sought after programs receive more funding. Explore these concerns, and what this ranking could mean for the university's future!

Edmonton was named Canada's first UNESCO Learning City, based on the university's reputation of having a strong focus on research, learning, and dedication to diverse students! Write about how this new label could help the university in the long run!

Provincial government rehauls AHS One of the first things Danielle Smith has done as premier is overhauling and restructuring AHS, telling Albertans that it'll be a little rocky for the next couple days. As well, she's planning on firing the entire AHS board by the end of the year. Talk about how this will impact Albertans and could potentially further destabilize our healthcare system!

Over the weekend, the NDP held a conference to discuss issues they'll be focusing on during the provincial election. One of these was lowering the voting age to 16, with mixed reactions from Albertans. Do you think 16 year olds should be allowed to vote? Or, do they lack life experience that would help guide their choices?

There's been lots of talk about who will become the next college dean, with many people expressing strong opinions about it on social media. Write a burlap sack on why, as a concept, college deans are kinda silly!
