Hi y'all!Satirical Jay-Z lyrics aside, it was great seeing everyone at our section meeting on Tuesday and getting to talk with everyone afterwards!Additionally, after discussing at the volunteer meeting this week, I'm happy to say we're having one more section meeting this semester! It'll be a more laid back meeting but we'll still be giving out pitches and having a good time, so definitely feel free to join.For those of you that couldn't come to the meeting this week but still want a pitch, we have a variety of stories for you to choose from. Below are the remaining pitches from Tuesday's Opinion meeting. U of A Academic Targeted by Racist Voicemails

Ubaka Ogbogu, an associate professor of law at UAlberta, was the target of racist voicemails after he appeared in a CBC News story last week. There's many dimesions that could be addressed in this piece: the challenges faced by Black academics or how this fits into academic freedom, just to name a few.

Extending Winter Break by a Semester

Last week, the university made the decision to extend Winter Break by a week, subsequently pushing back the start of the Winter 2021 semester. Many say that the extension will give a much needed break to students who are stressed in COVID. However, there are questions over the consequences for making Winter semester run longer.
