Spooky Pitches Round One!
With the advent of spooky month comes a whole new host of Arts & Culture pitches! Okay, well, none of these pitches are *that* spooky, but they sure are fun. :)Edmonton's festival season doesn't end in the summer, and in fact, we have three festivals ongoing or upcoming right now!EIFFReview films at the Edmonton International Film Festival! There are over 150 films playing until October 6th, mainly at Landmark Cinemas in City Centre Mall. The Gateway has secured an all-access media pass for the festival, so if you'd like to see some free movies in exchange for a few hundred of your sweet, sweet words, let me know!Up & Downtown FestivalReview concerts and/or interview artists at the Up & Downtown Festival! This music festival crisscrosses downtown from October 5 to 7. The full lineup is listed here. If you'd like to cover any concert or interview any artists, let me know and I'll see what I can arrange for you.LitFestCover events and/or interview authors at LitFest, Edmonton's non-fiction literature festival! The festival runs October 11-21 throughout the city. The full schedule is available here. The Gateway has secured media access to all events except the Brunch and Food Matters. Peruse the schedule and let me know if you'd like to interview any authors or cover any events!Aside from festivals, we have some other cool events coming up in the city...In Two, A Conducting RecitalArmand Birk and Ben Vanderkruk, two Bachelor of Music students, are having a joint conducting recital this Saturday, October 6, at 7:00 p.m. in Convocation Hall. This could make for a sweet story about a couple music lovers early in their careers. Hit me up if you'd like to interview Ben and/or Armand, or cover the concert.Brian Webb Dance Company presents Attakalari's Bhinna VinyasaThis Indian contemporary dance show runs from October 5 to 6 at 8:00 p.m. at the Triffo Theatre in Allard Hall. The show "explores metaphysical journeys prompted by internal and external forces resulting in profound changes in the lives of individuals and communities." It might be a bit out there, but it sounds intriguing. More details can be found here. Let me know if you'd like to interview the artists or producers, or review the show!
