  • A University of Alberta expert on influenza in birds is diving into the recent increase in avian influenza cases, outlining when extra caution is prudent – and sharing that most people have little to be concerned about.

  • University of Alberta nutrition experts have created a new cookbook, the High Protein Cookbook for Muscle Health During Cancer Treatment is designed to help people with the disease get enough of the essential nutrient to maintain healthy muscle mass.

  • Donna Wilson, a nursing professor, is the lead author of a study on how humor can trigger moments of intense grief for people who have recently lost a loved one but can also be helpful in the recovery process.

  • Work done by a U of A research team on the process of lichen may be starting to change the way we understand the marriage of fungus and algae

  • Mattieu Figeys, a PhD candidate in the faculty of rehabilitation medicine is part of a research team examining the effects and potential applications of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), the attachment of electrodes to a patient's scalp.

  • John England, an earth and atmospheric sciences professor, was invested into the Order of Canada. England was honoured for his five decades of arctic science research.
