Hey everybody, Areeha here!Hope you are doing well! Announcement: Our Annual General Meeting is on April 28th! A specific time is yet to be confirmed. The AGM will inform members about general Gateway happenings, changes to bylaw, electing volunteer board reps, a social event and awards! Keep an eye out for more information on this soon!  

Here are some News pitches for the week:

  • The Three Minute Thesis is an academic competition that assists current graduate students with fostering effective presentation and communication skills. Cover finals online tomorrow: March 29 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

  • The U of A is hosting Jude Kong, York University professor, in a talk about present models for estimating and forecasting greenhouse gas emissions from tailings ponds and end pit lakes. The talk is on Wednesday March 30 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

  • A U of A professor was among 500+ academics worldwide who signed a letter calling for universities to ban fossil fuel funding for climate change-related research. Interview him on why he signed this letter!

  • A U of A study found that environmentally conscious consumers are more likely to buy chicken raised on insects or algae! Interview the study's co-author Sven Anders, an agricultural economist and professor in the Faculty of ALES!

  • The U of A medicine (MD) program is changing their MCAT requirement. Once applicants meet our MCAT eligibility requirements, their scores will not be used to assess their application.

  • The Let’s Get Together Métis Studies Symposium is going bring 32 Métis thinkers from across the country together. Though the symposium is taking place May 3rd-6th, you can interview the organizers on what attendees can expect!
