I hope everyone's first day of classes went well! I'm sure this semester will be filled with challenges as well, but I hope we can all get through these last four months of school! As always, if you need someone to talk to I'm always here :)

News meetings are back in swing! They will now be held every Monday from 4:30-5:30 pm!

I'm also happy to announce that we finished deputy line editor hiring! Areeha Mahal will be this semester's News Deputy Line Editor! She will be helping me edit articles, run meetings, and basically run the section! Feel free to reach out to her if you have any concerns or questions you're not comfortable bringing to me! Here are the leftover pitches from yesterday's news meeting!

• Every year the library holds a research photo competition! This year they are releasing "Images of Research" colouring book, featuring images from past competitions!

• Student project RemBRAINdt creates art from brain waves, as project started by student group NeurAlbertaTech takes first place—and $20,000 in funding—in province-wide neurotechnology competition.

• The recreation centre is offering at home work out kits for free! This includes resistance bands, jump ropes and sliders!

• Preview ISSS Science Week starting Jan 18th!

• U of A physicists found that energy channelled into Earth's upper atmosphere by space weather prefers to head north—with implications for protecting global communications networks from solar disturbances

• The PMCOL Students' Association is hosting a lecture on hypertension across the lifespan, in partnership with hypertension Canada

• What's the Tsismis, CJSR's second podcast, has released their second season! Interview them about it!

• U of A business Alum competing in the Great Canadian Baking Show! Interview them about the experience!
