Hey everybody — Areeha here!I hope you are doing well! I know everyone is super stressed about finals, so make sure to take lots of breaks while studying! As mentioned last week we will be resuming pitch meetings in January! Here are News pitches for the week. Let me know if you're interested in any of them!

  • A recent U of A study showed that living in high-pollution areas or farther than 500 metres from green space or water is associated with lower quality of life for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Interview the researcher behind this!

  • The U of A is offering 2 new courses on sustainability this Winter (open for all students)! Interview the professors teaching these courses!

  • The Institute of Prairie and Indigenous Archaeology works to support Indigenous communities and help them find unmarked graves. They are currently crowdfunding to support the work.

  • A team of U of A researchers focused on aging Albertans has found that urinary incontinence could be a contributing factor in falls among older adults.

  • The U of A is hiring 11 tenure track Black faculty members!

  • Two U of A Press books made CBC's Best Canadian Nonfiction of 2021 list! Interview the authors of these books!

  • Four U of A Law graduate students are the recipients of Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarships in recognition of their impressive academic achievements.

As always feel free to pitch me a story idea! Reach me at [email protected] or at Slack with any questions or concerns.Have a great week, don't study too hard, and take care!
