Hello everyone!!Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone is enjoying the last little bit of summer! Here are the news and sports pitches for the week! Both the Bears and Pandas soccer teams are starting their regular seasons this weekend with two games each! Please let me know if you would like to cover them!   • The Canadian Foundation for Innovation has funded $8.8 million to The Metabolomics Innovation Centre (TMIC) and $10.6 million to GlycoNet Integrated Services (GIS), helping two key U of A research centres continue their pioneering work.

  • A U of A history prof will be doing a special presentation/Q&A session on the history of space flight at the Telus World of Science

  • A research team has identified individual genetic defects that lead to heart failure, opening the door to more targeted diagnosis, prevention and treatment.

  • A PhD student in the Faculty of Science led a study that suggests parasites have a greater health impact on mammal populations than previously known.
