News Meeting! March 22

Hello News Team!Hope all of you are doing well, especially in light of the recent shooting targeting Asian American women in the states and the other attacks targetting Asian elders that have been occurring recently. These blatant acts of racism and terrorism are so hard to watch and they can really affect your mental health. Please make sure to take care of yourselves and if you need someone to talk to, I am always here for you. My mother is Filipino and I have elderly aunts, so the rise in anti-Asian attacks is quite worrisome to me as well. If you haven't already, I highly suggest checking out our EIC Pia's editorial on the shooting, as well as our Magazine Editor Tina's editorial on the increase of anti-Asian attacks. These wonderful editorials really dig into how anti-Asian rhetoric and attacks are affecting Asian communities right now, as well as capturing the fear Asian individuals are currently feeling.

Thank you for your continued patience as we tackle our backlog! We will continue to be posting older articles and returning edits this week!! If you have any specific concerns or questions, please feel free to message me on Slack or send me an email at [email protected].

For today's meeting, I'm asking volunteers to do some searching and bring a few pitches to today's meeting! Everyone will have a chance to go through their pitches and talk about how they found them, what the story is, why it's important, and what angle they would take in writing it!

You don't have to do the pitches you bring, this is just a fun exercise to try looking for your own pitches!

Afterwards, we'll go through pitches as per usual!
