New archive facility opened at South Campus
The Research and Collections Resource Facility opened on May 31, and is home to 30,000 boxes of documents which go back to 1908! It would be really cool if someone could go in and get a tour of the facility or something, interview one of the librarians, and write it up for the news section!

U of A scientists discover world's oldest lizard fossil
New research by a PhD student here shows that a lizard fossil discovered about 20 years ago is around 240-million-year-old, which is 75-million years older than what scientists previously thought and making it the oldest relative of modern snakes and lizards ever found. This could make a cool story!
STREETERS and maybe ask a prof about flowers on campus?
Now that winter is a distant memory (for the moment), someone can do a streeters piece asking students where's the best place to be on campus in the summer like the Koi fish pond by Humanities, or elsewhere.
And with everything in full bloom, it'd be cool if someone asked a prof about all the flora and fauna found on campus.
U of A looking for volunteers to help students from asylum countries
The U of A is welcoming students from countries affected by conflict, and they're looking for volunteers to help these students transition to the new surroundings. It would be cool to do a piece on volunteers from the past three years this was done before. More
