HAPPY LAST DAY OF CLASSES, EVERYONE!

The 2018-19 school year is finally at a close! I wish you all good luck on your finals; study hard and crush those exams!As far as housekeeping things, I only have one thing: the Photo and Art show is actually happening TOMORROW! Bring yourselves, your pals, and strangers off the street to come and celebrate some of the wonderful visuals we've worked with this year! Other than that, we have our last week of pitches EVER! Please email me if you want to snag one! As a final closer, though, this will be the last ever pitch email I send out as Opinion Editor. I want to thank all of you, whether you were a super active volunteer to someone who wrote occasionally, for all your great work. I'm very proud of how the Opinion section has turned out this year, and very proud of the content you all have contributed. It's been an immense pleasure working with all of you as an editor, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this such an amazing experience. Keep on volunteering; it's only going to get better from here!

Should diploma exams be 50 percent again? 

The UCP, after some consideration, is putting their

to make Alberta's high school diploma exams once again worth 50 percent of Grade 12 students' final grades on pause. They are currently worth 30 percent. 

My grade 12 year (2014-2015) was the last year they ran 50 percent diplomas, which is wild to think about. While it's nice to have less pressure on you for a single exam, university entrance grades have shot up quite a bit for some programs as a result of the change.
