Gateway Illustration Pitches!
Hello peeps!
I've created a newsletter for us illustrators so that I can send these pitches in bulk. I'm hoping that our little group can grow with the pitches I'm introducing. Please forward this email to any of your friends and classmates who are current U of A students and I can also get them in the loop with the funky illustration pitches.
For now, since we don't have much to illustrate for, this newsletter will come to your inboxes regularly to account for the monthly Gateway to Cinema movie poster pitch. Hopefully this will change so that this newsletter can be more active.
If you have any ideas on what else to contribute to the section, besides the occasional article illustrations and movie poster pitches from me, let me know via email.

What:
illustrations that are not necessarily an accompaniment to any of our written articles
Who:
currently for The Gateway volunteers or any current student enrolled in the U of A
Although our magazine run is cut short, we're currently building up a space on the site to house all your cool artworks. Submissions may include, but are not limited to, illustrations (traditional or digital) and comics.
Submission requirements sent to my email ([email protected]) and Emily, our Editor-in-Chief ([email protected]):
.jpg or .png version of your illustration
artwork title
the date when you created said illustration
an artist statement about the artwork
art portfolio and blurb about art experience, if you haven't submitted one to me yet
Calling for comics submissions in particular!

on our print newspaper for the winter semester
When:
Nov 27, 5pm (especially if you submit a rough sketch)
What:
preferably any comics about campus current events, political cartoons (which is what we used to do), or just silly things about being in the UofA
Who:
currently for The Gateway volunteers or any current student enrolled in the U of A
We're planning on including two max on our print newspaper, which will be on our newsstands by the start of the winter semester. The remaining submitted comics that won't make the cut are eligible to be published on our site in the same place for the general illustration submissions.

rough sketch with appropriate comic formatting (at the very least) or a finished comic (preferred)
comic title
brief explanation of the comic (especially if you submit a rough sketch)
art portfolio and blurb about art experience, if you haven't submitted one to me yet
