The Gateway's referendum results

Hello everyone!

I hope this email finds you well. 

As many of you know, in the 2024 SU elections, The Gateway was running a campaign to establish a student fee. I’m just reaching out to update you on the results of our campaign. Some of you may have already heard, but our referendum passed with 60 per cent of the vote in favour. 

I know that leading up to the referendum, it was a time of uncertainty, anticipation, and anxiety. As many of you know, The Gateway runs off reserve funds to continue our operations. With this fee, The Gateway can expand its coverage and operations, and continue to serve our campus community, as we have done for the past 113 years. 

I just wanted to say thank you to each and every one of you — without our volunteers, we would not have been able to accomplish this. I’ve seen firsthand the dedication, effort, and enthusiasm all of you have put into this organization — through your attendance at pitch meetings, the articles I’ve edited, and your willingness to help and participate, I’ve seen how much all of you care about The Gateway.

I hope that all of you continue to work with us as we adapt and shape this new era of The Gateway.
