Photo Pitches!

Hello shutterbugs! I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. With the U of A community moving back in person in the coming weeks, The Gateway is now able to get its photo section truly up and running! Going forward, we'll be sending out regular emails with photo pitches, and you can always come by our pitch meetings on Mondays at 4pm to pick up a pitch! However, we won't be having pitch meetings over reading week or during UASU elections.

Students' Union Election TeamThe 2022 UASU Executive and Board of Governor's election kicks off on February 28th, and with this being the first in-person campaign in 2 years, we are looking for volunteers to cover the election for the photo section (last year there wasn't exactly a lot to take pictures of with everything online). The photo team will attend the candidates debates and any major events during the election, so if you are interested in being one of the photographers reply to this email to let me know! You don't need to have a ton of experience and this is a flexible commitment, and I'll be happy to share more details with you if you are interested!

Photo Pitches!

Students' Protest this Thursday

UAlberta students will be marching from campus to the legislature this Thursday at noon to protest cuts to post-secondary education funding. Join The Gateway staff as one of our photographers to capture the protest.

Silver Skate Festival

One of the best events in the winter, you can capture the events, shows, and winter activities happening at Hawrelak park until February 21!

Reading Week

Reading week is different for everyone: some people can relax, some go on vacation, some people spend it writing essays in the library. Document your reading week in 10 photos (even better if multiple people take this pitch!)

Any of your own?

You can always email me with your own photo pitches if you have them!

Take care- Lochlann
