Creative content submissions are open!
Hello everyone!
After a very successful Week of Welcome and Open House, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re reopening our creative writing and art and design submissions for the magazine! For those of you who are unaware, The Gateway’s monthly print magazine has a new section this year. Entitled "The Studio", this section is dedicated to student poetry, short stories, creative nonfiction, and more. We will also be featuring works of photography and art/design in the magazine, on their own or accompanying written works. All undergraduate students who do creative writing, photography, or art and design work are welcome to submit as many pieces as they would like, using the Google forms attached to the bottom of this email. Please create a new submission for each separate work/series of works. If there is a piece of artwork intended to go along with your writing submission, feel free to include that in your creative writing submission as well.
There are a few stipulations for magazine submissions:
All pieces must be 3000 words or less
All pieces must have a title
All pieces must be created by current University of Alberta students
We would like to gather as many submissions as we can right now so we can plan our magazines as far in advance as possible. There may not be other calls for submissions throughout the year, so it is strongly recommended that anyone interested submit their work as soon as possible. The deadline for this round of submissions is October 4th, 2019.
If your writing is selected, you will be contacted directly. Submissions will be selected by The Gateway’s Managing Editor, Editor in Chief, and Art Director. If you have any questions, please direct them to the Managing Editor, Christine McManus, at [email protected].We look forward to seeing your submissions!- The Gateway
