Thank you to everyone who attended pitch meetings! If you regularly attend pitch meetings or just came to the one today, please fill out this
. We'll make a decision for when to have pitch meetings based on this feedback, so it's super important that you fill this out ASAP if you'd like to attend!
Next week on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. we are going to have a workshop event! It'll be journalism basics with simple workshops with the different line editors, but if you've got other questions, it would be a great place to ask them! The location of this event is still TBA, so I will update you when we get that sorted.
As for deputy editors, those job postings will be up really,
really soon
. We'll send an email to all volunteers, so you won't miss it!
I'd also like to highlight a new column! It's called "Comic Stans" and it'll discuss representation in comics for women and LGBTQIA2S+ people. If you're a fan of comics and graphic novels, this would be a great column to try!

*NEW* Comic Stans: Love comics or graphic novels? This column is for you! Highlight your favourite comics and how they might include representation for women and LGBTQIA2S+ people!
The Hobby Hole: Tell us about any unique hobbies you have or give a fresh take on an old favourite. It could be a passion project or an activity you do when you want to lay back, unplug your brain, and watch the hours fly by.
Paddling up the Livestream: Wax lyrical about your favourite livestreams, put us onto some hidden-away gems, or give your hot-takes on livestream culture!
The First Time: Try something totally new and write about your experience. It could be a cuisine you’ve heard great things about, an unfamiliar type of music, or an activity you've never tried before. Tell us about it all from the POV of a complete novice.

Lunch Break: An Arts & Culture series where we share fun recipes with humorous commentary. It's wholesome and lowkey, so check it out and send an installment over!
Brew Crew/Vino Bitches: A fun, short review of your favourite (or not-so-favourite) beers, wines, or other alcoholic beverages of choice.
Noodle Nation: Who loves noodles? You (might) love noodles! Write a column on your favourite noodles or noodle haunts.
Pot Thots: Write about your favourite strains, equipment, dispensaries, and more in our column on the world of legal weed.

Review Indigenous Women and Street GangsThe book covers six Indigenous women who were previously involved in street gangs or in street lifestyles.They express their lives through photovoice.The book helps extend the conversation around reconciliation, generational trauma, and community healing.A copy of the book is available for review purposes. Don't worry about finishing this pitch super quickly if you take it — book reviews can generally take a while, and I understand if you need more time.
Check out the Tawatinâ Bridge art piece!The bridge will be open to all in November, and when it does, it will feature the artwork of Métis artist David Garneau. The bridge will become an outdoor gallery for pedestrians.Take some great photos at the at the bridge when it opens and I can try to get an interview with the artist!

Artist Harley Morman and curator Lindsey Sharman will present a virtual tour of Let's Do the Time Warp Again. The exhibit explores time through image-making.There will be a live Q&A afterwards, so this is a great opportunity to ask interview questions if you would like!
