Hey y'all! It's Jin here!
Hope you guys haven't mist this pitch email or me too much! As the week warms up, I hope you've also been warming up to the idea of taking a pitch — all good if not though! Make sure to enjoy the weather as much as you can and see spring finally come to Edmonton!
And without further ado, the pitches!
Pitches for the Week:

Check out the finalists for the Robert Kroetsch City of Edmonton Book Prize! The Robert Kroetsch City of Edmonton Book Prize is a $10,000 prize that is awarded to the best book of fiction, poetry, nonfiction, children's literature or drama published in the year prior. Three finalists have been selected: Burning the Night by Glen Huser,The Annual Migration of Clouds by Premee Mohamed, andLookout: Love, Solitude, and Searching for Wildfire in the Boreal Forest by Trina Moyles. Let me know if you want to talk to the finalists or if you've read the books and would like to write on them!

Two new exhibits are opening today and run until June 3!
Emily Hayes presents
a tension
, which references her personal history and intergenerational trauma to explore how trauma is multifaceted and affects individuals, families, and communities.
Heather Savard presents
PATTERN 2451
, which is based on a tea set Savard received from her grandmother and the experience of packing things up and moving away, exploring the duty to safekeep but guilt of discarding.

Check out Carly Rae Jepsen's new single!Carly Rae Jepsen's new single, "Western Wind" released on May 6, 2022. The song emerged from the deep solitude of quarantine.Let me know if you're planning to check out this release, and I might — VERY up in the air — be able to get you an interview with Jepsen, or her co-writer, Batmanglij.

Attend Jason Purcell's reading and celebration of Swollening!Jason Purcell is a co-owner of the Glass Bookshop in Edmonton, and Swollening is their first book. Swollening is a poetry collection that examines the queer, sick body as a reaction to an ill world and asks it how to move on toward hope.Purcell will also be joined by Emily Riddle, a nehiyaw author, and also wrote the Ancestors and Exes poetry collection.Admission is free, so let me know if you've read either of these poetry collections, or if you're planning to attend this evening!

Check out Northwestfest!Northwestfest is an international documentary festival that showcases the work of Canadian film-makers as well as those all over the globe. With stories presented from people of all walks of life, there's bound to be something for everyone!This festival will be happening virtually as well as in-person at Metro Cinemas from May 5 to 16. Let us know if you're planning to watch any of the movies!
