Arts and Culture Pitches!

These pitches got it pen-going on!

Hey, it's Jin!
How would a penguin play with a yoyo... it has no arms... there is no pun at the end of this, only unanswered questions.
Penguins aren't the only flightless birds around this week — I've got COVID, so I won't be stopping by the office early this week, but later in the week I should be all good. Let me know if you want to pick up any of these pitches!
Pitches for the Week:

Check out The Indigenous Hub!Partnered with the Dreamspeakers Festival Society, Punctuate! Theatre is presenting The Indigenous Hub, a collection of 10 video interviews that take place in the Whiskeyjack Art House. These interviews aim to celebrate and explore local Indigenous art from all disciplines. Two videos will be released per week, starting this week. Let me know if you'd like to check out the interviews and/or talk to Barry Bilinsky, the host!

Edmonton's Fringe Theatre Festival is up-and-running, better than ever!Fans of theatre know this festival well, and it's coming up again this year pretty soon! Running from August 11 to 21, take this chance to interview some organizers, or even some Fringe performers ahead of the big event!

Review Fire of Love!Fire of Love follows the story of two French volcanologists and their love for their research as well as each other. This documentary is a United States-Canada coproduction.A link is available to review this film, and it is being shown at Metro Cinema on July 30, so the turnaround time for this is tight. If you're reviewing the documentary, make sure your first draft is in by July 28!

Celebrate SNAP Gallery's 40th birthday! To celebrate 40 years of SNAP Gallery, they are launching an anniversary showcase. This showcase will highlight a variety of prints that showcase prolific skills, methods, and techniques explored at SNAP throughout their 40 years of operation. Running from August 6 to September 17, there is ample time to check out this exhibit, but make sure to let me know if you'd like to talk to an artist featured or the curator!
Get a "Taste of Edmonton"!
If you love to eat and listen to music simultaneously, this pitch is for you. Taste of Edmonton at Sir Winston Churchill Square from July 21st to 31st will have savoury dishes, desserts, cocktails, wine, beer and more for you to taste, and best yet the live performance will be free to attend.
If this sounds like a nice time, let Jin know you’ll be attending.

Imagine Monet!
After the success of Imagine Van Gogh and Imagine Picasso here comes Monet! It runs until September 2nd at the Edmonton EXPO center. It is an event designed to enhance French painter Claude Monet's paintings, it will present more than 200 paintings.
If you loved the previous two I’m sure this will be one not to miss. Let Jin know and you can write a review of the event, potentially comparing it with the other two if you’ve been!
