Hope you all enjoyed that short reprieve from cold weather! It sure was a great few days :')

Pitches for the Week:

Review AV's (Ann Vriend) new album, Everybody Matters!

AV is an Edmontonian artist, known for her vocals and socially conscious lyrics. Everybody Matters is AV's seventh album, released after her "Porch Concerts," where she and other artists performed for free on her porch in Edmonton.

This album is being released on February 4, so let me know if you want to interview AV or review it once it's out!

Attend the 2022 Alberta Student Leadership Summit!

This event is a four-day conference running from January 26 to 29. It's a virtual event, and this year it's even free to go! There will be various speakers present, including @notoriouscree, a mens fancy Powwow dancer known for his hoop dancing content, who will be the closing speaker.

Go to the opening preview of "Inheritance" at the Art Gallery of Alberta! 

This exhibition highlights historical facts that might be untold, emphasizing that they still affect our current futures.This exhibit is open to media ahead of time on January 21 at 6:00 p.m., so if you'd like to take photos, do interviews, or just review the exhibit, let us know so we can RSVP!

Attend the "Upholding White Supremacy through Anti-Muslim Racism" session!

Presented by the University of Alberta's faculty of political science, this event on January 27 at 6:00 p.m. invites professor Sherene H. Razack to talk about anti-Muslim racism's place in white supremacy.If you'd like to attend the session and interview Razack, let us know and we can try to set something up!

Interview Luca Vanzella! 

Vanzella is a U of A alum that took the series of photos of YEG's sunrise featured on NASA's "Photo of the Day," shot over 13 months!If you’re interested in interviewing Vanzella, let us know!

Interview Laila Biali or review her music!

Biali is performing at The Yardbird Suite on January 28 at 8 p.m.. Biali was also previously a CBC Music national radio host for Saturday Night Jazz. Her latest album, Out of Dust, was released March 27, 2020.

Check out Jack Damer & Lyndal Osborne: Obscure Objects of Desire!Located in the Fine Arts Building on campus, this exhibit displays the results of a double career survey for Damer and Osborne, who are both prominent North American print artists. Damer pushes beyond traditional print making by observing mechanical parts, while Osborne does so by engaging with the land she lives on.Let us know if you're interested in visiting!
