Last week(ish) of summer pitches!

Hello peeps! This is Arthur, the incoming Managing Editor and Arts and Culture Editor for this school year. Hope to have fun with y'all in these weekly pitch emails :D

Not as glad to see summer go by this soon so I am savoring the week chillaxing as much as I can. I'll mostly be inside though because it's still pretty hot like last week.

Review the Backstreet Boys Concert!Planning on going to the Backstreet Boys concert on Aug 26th? Talk about your experience and maybe gush over your favorite Backstreet Boys songs!

Review the Opera al Fresco on Aug 26th!For the first time in 3 years, Edmonton Opera is hosting an opera and musical theater night at the UofA Botanic Garden! Have a night of good music and snacks with a special someone and/or a fellow music connoisseur. Let me know if you're interested in checking them out!

Share your tips and tricks for a UofA back-to-school guide!Have a solid back-to-school routine? Share your go-to playlist that will pump you up for the coming months ahead, your uni school supplies staples, and/or your advice for incoming students who haven't been to UofA (in person or otherwise). The more submissions from y'all, the better this back-to-school guide will be!

Review the Edmonton Corn Maze's Sunflower Maze!The sunflowers at the Edmonton Corn Maze are in bloom! This can be a fun photostory, especially during golden hour around 8-9pm, or a cool review of the sunflower maze with your friends/family/significant other. Let me know when you want to visit because the flowers won't be there for long!

Review Movies on the Square at Churchill Square!

Movies on the Square is a weekly movie night at Churchill Square hosted by The City of Edmonton. It features fun interactive elements from the movie, food trucks, and a chance to win prizes for the best costume. Make sure to come early with your comfiest folding chair and catch the pre-show entertainment (6-8pm) before the show starts at 8:45pm!This week, they are showing Josie and the Pussycats on Aug 24th.They are also showing Labyrinth on Aug 30th and Kubo and the Two Strings on Sep 9th. Let me know which movie/s you'd like to check it out!

Review Dear Aubrey!

Dear Audrey is a feature-length documentary that follows renowned filmmaker/activist Martin Duckworth and the love of his life, photographer wife Audrey Schirmer over the course of their remarkable partnership. This film received several international awards and will be showing on August 27 at Metro Cinema. There is a link for review available, so let me know if you'd like to check it out!

Talk to someone involved in Rodeo Nation!Rodeo Nation is a docu series set to premiere this September, and follows Indigenous athletes as they hope to win big at the Indian National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas. Filmed by two Albertan filmmakers, this series will explore the lives and culture of Indigenous rodeo.Let me know if you'd like to talk to someone involved!
