There's one more week before school starts, so get your pitches now! If you're interested, make sure to check out the "Job Postings" section on The Gateway to see some cool staff positions that are open!
Let's not let this keep dragon on, so here are your pitches for this week!
Recurring Columns:
The Hobby Hole: Tell us about any unique hobbies you have or give a fresh take on an old favourite. It could be a passion project or an activity you do when you want to lay back, unplug your brain, and watch the hours fly by.
Paddling up the Livestream: Wax lyrical about your favourite livestreams, put us onto some hidden-away gems, or give your hot-takes on livestream culture!
The First Time: Try something totally new and write about your experience. It could be a cuisine youâve heard great things about, an unfamiliar type of music, or an activity you've never tried before. Tell us about it all from the POV of a complete novice.

What's in your bag for school?To kick off the "back-to-school" vibes, let's see what's in your backpack/tote bag/pockets/hands??? for school!It would be great to get multiple volunteers to send a photo (optional) of their back-to-school bag, with a blurb about what's inside. At least one or two more volunteers would be great, but there's no upper limit.Let me know if you'd be interested in contributing to a part of this piece!
Terez is a MĂ©tis singer-songwriter who is also a womenâs rights and LGBTQ+ advocate. "Sad Girl Summer" is an EP full of highly relatable lyrics while touching on issues that many people face such as: self-love, mental health, the impact of social media, and acceptance.

How about a hot dog? Check out Edmonton's first Hot Dog Fest!Edmonton is holding its first-ever Hot Dog Fest, and 12 restaurants are competing! Among the titles are Top Dog, Wackiest Dog, and Relished Dog. Additionally, $1.50 from every hot dog sold by a participating restaurant will go to Edmonton Meals on Wheels.The Festival will be happening until August 31st. Let me know if you'd be interested in reviewing some (hot) dogs, or interviewing someone involved!
Dancin' in the Street brings light and joy to Edmonton's streets!Kaleido is a family-friendly arts festival that usually occurs in September. This year their showcase weekend is September 10 - 12, and there will be a variety of activities including musicians, visual artists, and street performers, spread out across many locations.Let me know if you'd be interested in seeing this free arts festival in September and interviewing someone from their team!
