Arts and Culture Pitches

What time is it? IT'S ARTS 'N CULTURE PITCHES TIME!

Hey everyone!

It's Ashlynn, the Arts and Culture Editor. Happy October, everyone! It's spooky season now and there's a bunch of fun things happening in Edmonton and cool Arts things coming out! As usual, we have our ongoing columns and some interview and review opportunities. And if you have a pitch of your own, send it my way at: [email protected]Just a reminder: Articles are due on Friday at 9pm (unless we have discussed it before)! Also, if I don't reply to your email in two days, please send it again, sometimes gmail is weird !

And now, as always, the recurring columns (these are always open to anyone, just send me your idea for whichever column you want to write and I'll get back to you):

  • Gateway to Gastronomy: Know any fun and easy to follow recipes? Pair up with a photo volunteer and share it on this recurring segment.

  • Exploring Edmonton: Do you know any cool places around Edmonton that people should visit? Write about them in this new series!

  • Lunch Break: An Arts & Culture series where we share fun recipes with humorous commentary. It's wholesome and lowkey, and personally, I love anything about food, so check it out and send an installment over if you feel so inclined!

  • Brew Crew/Vino Bitches: A fun, 150- to 350-word review of your favourite (or not-so-favourite) beer, wine, or other alcoholic beverage of choice.

  • Top 5: Top 5 study spots, places to cry in public, late-night post-exam diners...you name it, you can write a Top 5 on it! 50-200 words per Thing In The Top 5.

  • Diss Track: Are there 3-4 songs that grind your gears in the worst way possible? Diss the crap out of them in this column.

  • Emoji of the Week: This one’s self-explanatory. Trawl your recently used emojis and sing praise about it and why other people should worship it as The Best Emoji too.

  • Fashion Streeters: If you love walking up to people and asking them about their cool outfits, this one’s for you. Q & A format. Consider pairing up with a photo volunteer or taking your own pics!

  • Social Intercourse: A weekly round-up of cool, local cultural events compiled by Arts & Culture writers.

  • ...AND MORE! You can also pitch me your own column ideas if you want to write your own or if you've seen any awesome movies or performances/heard any music/read any books/played any games/eaten any food etc., let me know.
