This email is required reading. Get it? Required reading? Like the section in the magazine. R-e-q-u-i-r-e-d...
Hey Arts ghouls and goblins! I know you might be ramping up for some (socially-distanced) Halloween fun, but I hope you've got time for this week's very unspooky but still worthwhile pitch email. As you can probably deduce from the header, I want to really push the Required Reading section of the magazine this week. If you don't know what Required Reading articles are read last week's email or check out the Required Reading articles from our October issue here. You can also email me to ask. We're currently looking for Required Reading submissions for the December issue that fit with our theme of "Gender and Healthcare." Maybe you want to do a Q&A with a family member who works in healthcare? Maybe you want to write a personal piece reflecting on a time you were in the hospital? Maybe you want to give your thoughts on women in healthcare and how they're treated, either as patients or as healthcare workers? Either way, we want to hear your ideas!Send me an email if you have an idea for a Required Reading pitch, or if you don't have an idea but are still interested in submitting, let me know and we can think of something together. Also just a heads up that we'll be having an online Among Us social this Friday at 7 p.m. to celebrate spooky szn and have some good times and you're all invited! If you've never played Among Us before do not fear, we will show you the ropes. You will be able to join at this Zoom link on Friday: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85376688377 And now, as always, the recurring columns:

U of A alumni behind popular Harry Potter podcastMarcelle Kosman and Hannah McGregor created the popular Harry Potter podcast Witch, Please while students at the U of A, and since then show has garnered an international fanbase. The podcast went on a hiatus in 2017 and relaunched at the beginning of September 2020 with a podcast network and a mountain of J. K. Rowling controversy to sort through. Let me know if you would like to interview either McGregor or Kosman about their show. You can listen to it here.
