It's summer in Edmonton, and that can only mean one thing: it's festival season! The Street Performers' Festival is in full swing, and Africanival, Taste of Edmonton, Folk Fest, and the Edmonton Fringe are just around the corner. Preview Sass the Patriarchy.

On July 18, Australian band This Way North is hosting Sass the Patriarchy, a night of music and discussion about gender diversity in the music industry, at The Aviary. Several local musicians are taking part in the event, including Dwennimmen, Dana Wylie, and Kimberley McGregor. It looks like it will be an interesting night of performance and discourse! This Way North is available for interviews if you're interested in writing a reporting-style preview.

The Edmonton Street Performers' Festival is taking place July 10-15 in McIntyre Park. Artists and festival organizers may be available for interviews. The festival grounds are sure to visually stimulating, so if you have a photographic bent, consider doing a photo essay!

Profile The Lion Project.

The Lion Project, an art installation by Edmonton artist Yong Fei Guan, is a response to the removal of the Harbin Gate from Chinatown South to make way for LRT construction. The project consists of two lion sculptures constructed from Canadian plastic waste. Interview Guan to find out more!
