We out here, we got pitches!!!

Here's another week's worth of Arts & Culture pitches for y'all!!! We have our ongoing columns and some interview and review opportunities. I hope you'll consider taking a pitch to take a break from studying. And as always, send me your own ideas at [email protected]. :)

  • Brew Crew/Vino Bitches: A fun, 150- to 350-word review of your favourite (or not-so-favourite) beer, wine, or other alcoholic beverage of choice.

  • Noodle Nation: Who loves noodles? You (might) love noodles. Write 450-500 words on your favourite noodle (ramen, pho, other long stringy flour-y food) haunts for this column.

  • Pot Thots: Write about your favourite strains, equipment, dispensaries, and more in our all-new column on the world of legal weed.

  • DatApp: Have an app thatโ€™s been a game- or life-changer? Wax eloquently about it (or a few of your favourites) in a short 150- to 350-word installment for this column.

  • Top 5: Top 5 study spots, places to cry in public, late-night post-exam diners...you name it, you can write a Top 5 on it! 50-200 words per Thing In The Top 5.

  • Diss Track: Are there 3-4 songs that grind your gears in the worst way possible? Diss the crap out of them in this column.

  • Emoji of the Week: This oneโ€™s self-explanatory. Trawl your recently used emojis and sing praise about it and why other people should worship it as The Best Emoji too.

  • Fashion Streeters: If you love walking up to people and asking them about their cool outfits, this oneโ€™s for you. Q & A format. Consider pairing up with a photo volunteer or taking your own pics!

  • Doinโ€™ You: Everyone has something they do exceptionally well. Wanna teach others your wizardry? Walk us step-by-step through the process of a master for this column.

  • Playlists: Have killer musical taste? Share it on The Gateway with a curated playlist.

  • Retro on Retro: Is some classic piece of media on your mind? Reflect on it with the distance of time in this column. Discuss the qualities, staying power, and impact of your favourite old movie, videogame, album, book, play, or whatever else!

  • ...AND MORE! You can also pitch me your own column ideas if you want to write your own or if you've seen any awesome movies or performances/heard any music/read any books/played any games/eaten any food etc., let me know.

Profile printmaking master Liz Ingram.

, a Professor Emeritus in the U of A Department of Art & Design, has been inducted into the Order of Canada! Ingram is a master in the art of printmaking and has had a distinguished career here and worldwide over more than forty years.

I'd love for us to profile Ingram to talk about her career, her artistic practice, and what it means to achieve such high esteem and recognition as an artist.

Let me know if you're interested and we can set up an interview!

Preview or review Studio Theatre's On the Verge.

is the next play in the U of A Department of Drama's Studio Theatre season.

Written by Eric Overmyer and directed by Professor Kathleen Weiss, this whimsical comedy chronicles the adventures of three Victorian women exploring parts unknown.

On the Verge

runs from November 29 to December 8 at the Timms Centre for the Arts.

We could set up interviews with the artists (including the BFA Acting students) and/or review the opening night!

Cover dc3 Art Projects' Simply Paint.

dc3 Art Projects is presenting

, its first all-painting exhibition. The exhibition will run from November 16 to January 12 alongside a solo presentation of painting by Joseba Eskubi. Some of the artists are young up-and-comers who have been shortlisted for prestigious visual arts awards.

It could be cool to interview the artists or curator about the exhibition. Or, you could go to the gallery and review or photograph it!

Cover BandSwap YEG!

BandSwap YEG is running for its fourth year on November 24 at Bohemia (a downtown live music venue). Doors open at 8 p.m. and the music starts at 9 p.m. This event brings musicians together to raise money for Boyle Street Community Services. The musicians are sorted into teams and given a set list pulled from a hat. They then have 24 hours to learn and practice their songs before performing at the BandSwap YEG concert.

I think this event sounds super rad!!! I'd love for one of you lovely folks to interview the organizers and/or participating musicians. Or, you could go to the concert and write a review!

Cover this cool anthology launch!

The Borderlines Writers Circle is launching its new anthology,

, on November 24, 2:00 p.m., at Audrey's Books (a downtown indie bookstore). Published by Mawenzi House Publishers,

Looking Back, Moving Forward

is a collection of new writing: fiction, poetry, drama, and personal essays.

The featured writers are immigrants to Canada; they grapple with living over "borderlines" in their work. Let's interview the writers, cover the launch, and/or review the anthology!
